Bio

Charmain F. Jackman, Ph.D., is a Harvard-trained, licensed psychologist with over 23 years in the mental health field. Dr. Jackman is the founder + CEO of InnoPsych, Inc., an organization on a mission to change the face of therapy and to promote wellness & healing for people of color. InnoPsych, Inc., is an award-winning organization focused on increasing access to therapy through its online therapist of color directory and thought-provoking emotional wellness programming. As a change-maker, Dr. Jackman is passionate about the intersection of psychology, mental health, and diversity, equity, and inclusion and has created social impact initiatives that support community members and mental health professionals. She has used her expertise to shape how organizations respond to and support their employees during the COVID-19 and racial violence crises. Dr. Jackman is the recipient of the City of Boston’s 2021 Innovator of the Year Award. In 2020, Dr. Jackman was the recipient of the American Psychological Association’s 2020 PLC Diversity Award, and was named one of the 50 Most Influential Business People of Color by the Newton-Needham Chamber of Commerce. Dr. Jackman LOVES talking about mental health and is a national spokesperson for mental health and emotional wellness. She has also been featured in both print and TV media outlets locally and nationally.

From Surviving to Thriving: Emotional Wellness as An Act of Resistance

Dr. Jackman, award-winning psychologist and emotional wellness expert, will discuss why emotional wellness has become a trending topic for BIPOC women and why thriving, not merely surviving, has to be our new battle cry! Dr. Jackman will explore how our emotional inheritance impacts our work and relationships and what we can do to create new patterns that foster our success. Using her 3M’s for Mental Wellness framework, Dr. Jackman will share mindfulness strategies that you can use every day to foster an emotionally healthy lifestyle. You are guaranteed to leave this session feeling recharged and renewed!

Racial Trauma at Work: How Workplaces Can Address the Emotional Health of Employees

In this workshop, Dr. Jackman will discuss how racial trauma impacts the emotional well-being of employees of color/the psychological impact of racial trauma. Using current events, she will discuss the impact of racism on employee wellness and workplace dynamics and facilitate discussions on how those in privileged groups and/or positions can advocate for change. Dr. Jackman will share strategies for creating a culture that fosters positive communication about race and racial discrimination in the workplace.

Activating Your Allyship

Using current events, she will discuss the impact of racism on employee wellness and workplace dynamics and facilitate discussions on how those in privileged groups can advocate for change. Dr. Jackman will share the allyship continuum and discuss how those in privileged groups can activate their allyship by taking concrete steps to disrupt racism at the personal, interpersonal, and institutional levels.

Thriving in Times of Crisis: Emotional Wellness Matters

In this workshop, Dr. Jackman will discuss typical and atypical reactions to crises and the subsequent impact on employee emotional well-being. Specifically, she will discuss how the COVID-19, racial, and mental health pandemics have impacted the way we connect, work, and communicate, and the subsequent impact on the workplace. Using her 3 M’s for Mental Wellness framework, Dr. Jackman will provide opportunities for attendees to practice strategies that support emotional well-being.
