Dimitrios Lamprou (Ph.D. MBA) is a subject matter expert in emerging technologies for drug delivery systems and medical implants. He is the author of over 120 peer-reviewed publications and of over 300 conference abstracts, has over 120 Invited talks in institutions and conferences across the world, and has secure Funding in excess of £2.5M.
Dimitrios, has been recognised as world leader in Printing, with PubMed-based algorithms placed him in the top 0.1% of scholars in the world writing about Printing in the last 10 years. Moreover, his research lab is listed in the top 5 labs in UK for research in microfluidics. Dimitrios, has also been named in the Stanford University's list 2021 of World Top 2% of scientists, for his research in Pharmaceutics and Biomedical Engineering.
His research and academic leadership have been recognized in a range of awards, including the Royal Pharmaceutical Society Science Award and the Scottish Universities Life Sciences Alliance Leaders Scheme Award.
He is the Chair at United Kingdom and Ireland Controlled Release Society (UKICRS), Chair (founder) of the Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences (APS) Emerging Technologies Focus Group, Committee Member of the Bio-Effective Surface Treatment (BEST) - Advisory Group, Member of the British Standards Institute (BSI) AMT/8 committee for Additive Manufacturing, Section Editor for Heliyon (Pharmaceutical Science, Pharmacology and Toxicology), Associate Editor at Frontiers in Medical Technology (Nano-Based Drug Delivery Section), Editor for Topical Collection in Pharmaceutics (3D Printing and Bioprinting Applications in Pharmaceutics), Guest Editor for 19 Special Issues in International Refereed Journals and Editorial Board Member for 3 Refereed Journals. Has also a number of important University & School roles, most noticeably in the arena of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI).
His state-of-the-art Lab is applying Emerging Biopharmaceutical & Pharmaceutical Technologies (e.g., 3D Printing & Bioprinting, Electrospinning, Microfluidics & Lab-on-a-chip, BioMEMS) in the Manufacturing of Drug Delivery Systems, Medical Devices & Implants.
