I overcame homelessness, divorce, and single motherhood. I've been mentoring and coaching people for a very long time. Perhaps not VERY long, as that implies that I have reached gray hair and AARP status. To date, I have not, unless the three grays that I say represent each of my children count. I have been sharing my life experiences and the knowledge that I have gained from a roller coaster education, with others, for 20 years. Does that count as a very long time? I’ve heard stories of experiences much like my own and been afforded the opportunity to learn, via the journey of others, things I have never gone through myself. If you are looking for credibility in my words, just keep reading. I was a married mother at the age of 18. My nest has been full more than half of my life. With my last Mohican 17 years old, I have entered the season in life where I believe it’s time to live for me. I thought about that and considered what I thought it should look like. I made the mistake of looking at my peers and colleagues, their successes and thought that should be the gauge for determining where I should be in my life, what I should be doing and what I want to do with my life. I was utterly and completely wrong. I suppose that's where the idea of this journey and sharing it with others came from. My life is not stopping because my children are nearing adulthood and embracing independence. My initial thought was to write a book called “Empty Nest.” I actually had an amazing cover photo and big plans with that theme in mind. However, mine isn’t an empty nest at all. It’s actually filled with all of the dreams, hopes, aspirations, and journeys that I have yet to embark upon. This is the season of my Journey On. As I reach a milestone in parenting, my children come to the fork in the road called independent living, and I begin a journey that includes a new husband, new city, and new adventures. Whether your journey has shifted because your children grew up and left home, a loved one transitioned from this life, or perhaps you have always walked alone; there is something to be gained. I'm on a daily journey of finding and cultivating exactly "who" I am. I CAN tell you that I'm a true GRIT, born and raised, Being a Girl Raised In The South means that I'm a woman of strength, hope, faith and, perseverance. I'm passionate about building relationships and partnering with others to help them navigate the journey that we are all on, called Life! It's no small undertaking, but it's my purpose and joy to see those that I connect with become their Best Self. I'm a motivational speaker because once upon a time I needed motivation and couldn't find any that fit who and where I was. I decided that there are more people out there like me and someone has to be a voice, so here I am. I'm a writer because I can reach more people, more often when my words are in print. And because my Pop said that I was long overdue to become one. I hope that gives you some context
