David Zaruk is Professor in Communications and Marketing at Odisee University College in Brussels and an Environmental Health Policy Risk Analyst at Risk Perception Management. Since receiving his PhD in Philosophy (Louvain), David worked twelve years in chemicals issue management for Solvay, Cefic and Burson-Marsteller. In 2001, he was one of the founders of GreenFacts, an Internet-based environmental-health risk communications tool (www.greenfacts.org). In the four years that David developed GreenFacts, he became a leading spokesperson in Brussels on expanding the role of research in policy decisions and the need for new means to communicate science to non-specialists. His main concentrations today include stakeholder risk perception, reputation and trust communications, EU env-health policy, public understanding of chemicals and EU lobbying tools.
