In simple terms, I’m passionate about small businesses or, as I call them, ACORN businesses. Why an acorn? Because inside its hard shell, every acorn holds a seed with the potential to grow into a full oak tree. I've had some big failures but, over more than 30 years, I’ve also established successful enterprises and spent many years helping other people unlock their hidden potential by focusing on key business systems and building strong teams.
My concern is that so many people run their businesses like the jobs they gave up in the first place. This led me to create First On The Beach, to help owners build businesses that can run without them – leaving them to spend more time on the best "beaches", or whatever else they dream of doing, and have worked so hard to achieve.
I’ve also held senior corporate roles in retail and manufacturing.
In recent times, I’ve developed a digital media network, online loyalty and rewards programs and, currently, I’m growing a web development and marketing company. When I’m not working on the business or helping other business owners, you’ll find me dressed as a lion in support of my Saving Leo project – raising funds to help save endangered animals around the world.
As a versatile public speaker, trainer and facilitator, my presentations are highly entertaining (it’s my Tasmanian sense of humour), and always thought provoking. The material I present is relevant and is delivered in a way that makes it easy to apply back in your business.
