Cowboys of Color; A Multi-Cultural Legacy (60 Minutes)

Cowboys of Color: A Multi-Cultural Legacy

For far too long, Hollywood and popular culture have painted a limited picture of the American cowboy, often portraying them as rugged white men. But the reality is far more diverse and captivating. The American West was a melting pot of cultures, and the cowboy community was a reflection of that rich diversity. Historians estimate that one in four cowboys were Black, and their contributions to shaping the West were significant, yet their stories remain largely untold.

The award-winning documentary, "Cowboys of Color: A Multi-Cultural Legacy," offers a glimpse into Past, Present, and Future of Black cowboys and their invaluable contributions to the American West.

The story of Black cowboys is a testament to the resilience, determination, and courage of those who helped shape the American West. By uncovering and celebrating their contributions, we gain a richer and more accurate understanding of our history.
