My name is Colin Josselyn. I am currently a graduate student at Bridgewater State University. I am getting my master’s degree in Business administration, but my real area of interest is in helping people achieve their full potential and live their best lives. I want to have an impact on people to strive for what they want so that they can live a life they truly enjoy. I truly believe that people have a certain amount of potential that can be achieved and I also am aware of the growing issue of mental illness. Having battled some mental struggles myself I have gained strength, confidence and enjoyment in my life through those. My biggest aspiration in life is to be the best impact speaker in the world. I believe that being an impact speaker is different than being a motivational speaker. The two are very similar, but I want to create an impact with people that they will remember for the rest of their lives.
I am just starting out on this process and I have a 20 year plan in place to achieve this goal, but to begin this process I have to do more than just post on Instagram and LinkedIn, I have to speak in front of people. I have experience of speaking in front of people from being in plays as a kid, to speaking at multiple High schools. On top of this I have been a part of sports teams all my life. In college I have been in the Honors College as well as I have been a two year captain of the baseball team. In addition to those roles I have been a baseball coach for Whitman Legion baseball for the last three years, coaching kids age14-19.
A potential speech would likely revolve around leadership or revolve around the strength in knowing yourself and being yourself instead of being someone you are not. Social media, friends, bullies, coaches, teachers, parents all have an impact on us and this impact can be positive or negative, but the importance to be yourself has a profound impact on the quality of your life. For both topics I can write a draft of the speech or I can even record myself giving the speech. If you wanted to I could come give you the speech in person first as more of a filtering process.
