My wife and I became foster parents in the Fall of 2015. We adopted a four-year-old African American girl in June of 2017. Since that time, I have made it my lives work to educate people about the foster care system in Texas. There is an ongoing need for foster parents who are able to care for children of all ages.

As the parent of an adoptee, I have learned how adverse childhood experiences impact neurological development. These changes can cause maladaptive behaviors that make parenting a challenge at times. It is critical for all parents and teachers who interact with children living with trauma to understand their condition so they can respond with compassion.
