With a deep-rooted passion for designing elegant and beautiful software architecture, Ciaran utilises his extensive experience in team leadership and management to deliver a proven track record of excellence and follow his passions in the world of technology.
Ciaran has given his experience to head projects and provide technical leadership at Oracle and ATG building on his core beliefs of simplicity over complexity. Ciaran Bunting started his professional journey working as a software engineer for Nortel Networks in 1999, he learnt skills and gained experience, further progressing into a senior software engineer role before being made the software delivery architect in 2005.
After 2 short stints at ASG and Citigroup between 2006 and 2007, Ciaran found his feet at ATG. Taking on the role of software architect and lead engineer in the autumn of 2008. When Oracle purchased ATG in the winter of 2010/11, he continued his growth by taking charge of larger projects with bigger teams and more creative control. Over the last decade, Ciaran has proved himself to be a key team member taking accountability for all aspects of a project, forcing the questions that need to be asked and keeping all team members on track and energised in their work. As Payments Architect for Oracle Commerce, Ciaran was always open to discuss customers implementations, helping to retain key accounts. Since early 2022, Ciaran has been with Juniper Networks. Transitioning from engineering management to a more technical, individual contributor role.
Born and raised in Northern Ireland, Ciaran Bunting studied at The Queen’s University of Belfast, completing a 2:1 degree in BEng Electrical and Electronic Engineering in the summer of 1999. He went on to further improve his business knowledge by completing a Business Administration Qualification at Ohio Dominican University in May 1998.
Throughout Ciaran’s career, he gained a wealth of technical skills and knowledge in all aspects of software design and engineering. Ciaran has gained extensive experience in Java throughout his entire career, from early development in J2EE to using Java in modern microservices. Ciaran’s last technical project involved a microservice to resize account product photos and images on demand as a multi-tenant cloud service. Ciaran has shown technical leadership through both hands-on implementation and architectural design.
