Carol worked as a police officer in Toronto for 14 years including 4 year undercover in the drug and prostitution areas, following in her grandfather and parents footsteps. After moving to Australia and in the process of building a new life she was devastated when diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1998.
By 2001, her introduction to disability had begun.
In 2005 -identified at a Paralympic Talent Search Day at the age of 44 and went on to represent Australia in the World Championships in 2009 in rowing – then in 2011 switched to cycling.
Carol is now a 3 x Paralympian (3 gold and 1 silver) and 9 x World Champion in the sport of Para Cycling.
In 2017 her first book 'Finding You Inner Gold' was released, in 2021 her second book 'The Force Within - From Police Officer to Paralympian' was released, which won Best Biography in 2023 through Able Publishing. Then in 2024 with 44 other women became an Amazon Best Selling Author with 'Voices of the 21st Century - Empowering Women through Passion and Purpose', was released.
