Bio

Ben Haseen (He/Him) is an openly trans South Asian graduating physician, author, and transgender health advocate of Bangladeshi descent graduating from Morehouse School of Medicine. He is committed to health disparities research publishing and presenting on transgender care, health equity, and health literacy. He is the first in his family to attend college in the United States, and the first to attend medical school. Since the start of his academic career, he has written works detailing his experiences being a transgender Muslim growing up in marginalized neighborhoods in Atlanta, GA. Lastly, he has spearheaded multiple trans and queer health education resources including a YouTube channel dedicated to transgender health education, and holding health workshops as part of the mutual aid efforts across Atlanta, and the nation. He has previously been featured in Prevention.com and USA Today.

Prioritizing the LGBT Community for The COVID-19 Vaccines

This presentation provided a much-needed call to action for improving the care of LGBT individuals amongst the COVID-19 pandemic affecting millions of people around the world. I illustrated why the LGBT community needs increased attention as a vulnerable group and aim to educate to change health policy around the care of LGBT patients.

Inclusive Anatomy: Representing ALL Bodies

A lecture on the need to make anatomy education more inclusive to those populations that are most marginalized (trans, intersex, fat, and those with disabilities). Presented to the Morehouse School of Medicine Health Careers Opportunities program.
