In 2018 when Amber Barbach lost her father to glioblastoma brain cancer, she knew she had to do something about it and that’s when she founded the Glioblastoma Research Organization, a nonprofit that raises awareness and funds for cutting-edge research to find a cure for glioblastoma. The National 2025 Forbes 30 Under 30 entrepreneur has raised over $2.2 million to support glioblastoma research and awareness initiatives.
As founder and director of the Glioblastoma Research Organization, Amber oversees administration, investment management and charitable research funding and brand partnerships for the organization. She leads the design of the overall project funding strategies and policies emphasizing the needs of Glioblastoma brain tumor research. A leader in the GBM community, Amber has received numerous awards, including Worth Magazine’s Worthy 100 and South Florida Business Journal’s Up and Comer award, and made the Forbes 30 Under 30 Local list for Miami in 2023.
Amber’s personal connection to brain cancer advocacy work has led her organization to provide support to doctors and researchers through eight fully funded projects at leading cancer centers throughout the U.S., including UHealth at the University of Miami, Cleveland Clinic, and Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. Through her organization, Amber has created a hub that connects individuals from across the globe who are facing similar situations so that they don’t have to suffer alone after diagnosis. She has built the largest active community in the brain cancer space across all digital media platforms. Amber also leads a podcast, “Glioblastoma AKA GBM”, to serve its mission to continue raising awareness for glioblastoma.
